So maybe Teresa Guidice doesn’t like sprinkle cookies, but I sure do.  I mean if someone was so kind to make these cookies and bring them to my house, would I get offended and throw them in the trash?! Ab-sol-ute-ly not!  What could be wrong with a sweet, soft cookie with colorful little sprinkles? I didn’t ask ahead of time if Hunter Bear’s teachers had some ridiculous aversion to sprinkle cookies and perhaps they were insulted by my tasty token of appreciation on his last day of preschool and gave them the ole garbage can toss, but if my instincts are correct, I bet they liked them, too!

So, if you are like ‘Tre” and hate sprinkle cookies, by all means, don’t make these, but if you are like most normal human beings, I think you should make them and I think you will like them.

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes

Yield: 48 cookies

Sugar Cookies

A simple, but tasty sugar cookie.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Assorted sprinkles

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, sift together flour, baking soda and baking powder. Set aside.
  2. In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream butter for about 3 minutes. Add sugar and cream together butter and sugar for about 5 minutes more. Add vanilla and egg and stir together. Add flour mixture a 1/2 cup at a time until combined. Scoop out about 1 teaspoon of dough per cookie and roll into a ball. Place on cookie sheet about 1-2 inches apart. Bake 8-10 minutes or until golden. Remove from oven and let cook for 1-2 minutes. Place on a wire rack and sprinkle with sprinkles if desired while cookies are warm.
