We are so fortunate that while we are away at work our Hunter Bear gets to spend his day at an amazing school. They always have fun adventures to go along with their weekly curriculum. This week their letter was “C”, so all week they learned about “C”amping. We brought in flashlights, tents, sleeping bags, etc. all to gear up for the big end of the week finale “campout”. After their sleeping bag naptime, they loaded up their gear and rations (homemade binoculars, a bottle of water, and trail mix) and headed out into the wild. I signed up to bring in the trail mix for their “hike”. As most any class does, one of his friends has a severe peanut allergy, so I couldn’t really just pick up pre-made trail mix………as if I would really do that anyway….. so I threw together a few different ingredients that had a great balance of sweet and salty for our little outdoor adventurers. Clearly making trail mix is not rocket science, but it did win the hearts of about 16 3-year olds, so I consider that a success.
Super Easy Nut-Free Trail Mix
- Corn Chex Cereal
- Honey Nut Cheerios
- Original Goldfish
- Snyder’s Butter Snap Pretzels
- California Raisins
- M&Ms
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and toss to mix. You can add gummy snacks, marshmallows or any kid-friendly treat to the mix.
